100 under £100

The '100 under £100' Small is Beautiful Series was inspired by my son, Milo, who asked if I could make some of my work affordable enough so that his friends could start collecting original paintings at an accessible price…

This series is formed from a collection of mainly unseen works on paper from over the last 5 years: they are explorations in colour and composition - my process is very fluid and organic - the work develops in its own way and it's that element of surprise which gives me the most pleasure - I never know if it is going to 'work' or not... and what often happens is that there will be little pockets of magic, where everything comes together beautifully, however it doesn't extend to the whole sheet of paper, just this one little area. And so I keep these magical parts of the paintings which I really love and by seeing them through a 4inch square window, a fresh new vignette appears - shapes and colours interact with each other in a totally new way and a beautiful new little painting comes alive.

Each original painting is 4 x 4 inches/10 x 10cm image size

Mounted in soft white archival mount board 8 x 8 inches/20 x 20cm mount size
