"It's interesting how paintings can often develop... At the centre of this work, where I always start painting, is a very soft baby pink and it was my intention to keep the painting soft and muted, yet as each layer went on, the painting took on a life of its own, it didn't want to be muted and 'fit in' with some beautifully interior designed toned down greys as I had envisaged it, it wanted to be a statement piece about being strong, soft and powerful all the same time...

I've never thought about my paintings having masculine or feminine energy before, and pinks are often associated with the feminine, however, this painting has a very real feeling of masculine energy which is both soft and strong."
